Research background

Eventhough we have decided on a genre, we are still going to research all types of teaser trailers, whether comedy, drama, horror etc to increase our knowledge of what a typical teaser trailer consists of to give us a larger range of ideas about real media products. This will be presented in Powerpoint format along with research about their promtional products.

Genre

The first thing we decided on was the genre of our teaser trailer. After last years attempt at a comedy we found that this particular genre was quite hard to work with as it limited our ideas and proved difficult to attract every persons sense of humour. "Some people say genre is a woolly construction - one mans horror is another mans comedy."

Due to this, we decided on the genre 'thriller' for our A2 piece as this gives us a greater span of ideas when thinking about and producing our teaser trailer and ancillary tasks. Furthermore, this expands the opportunity for us to create a superior mise en scene.

To differ our teaser trailer from other thrillers we have combined our genre with another to create a hybrid genre of a psychological thriller. We believe this will have a greater impact on the audience as the intriguing trailer will give them a taste of what's to come.
